Jessica Hickey
Child & Family Therapist
As an accomplished professional with 15 years’ experience in the Human Services field, Jessica has held various roles including; Counsellor, Community Engagement Worker, Youth Worker, Assessment Specialist, Caseworker, Case Manager and Senior Case Manager. Jessica also has experience leading multi-disciplinary teams as a Program Manager in the child protection space.
Jessica’s career focus has always been around supporting families and nurturing children and young people’s wellbeing. Jessica’s experience includes working with clients on a broad range of issues including; mental health, relationship breakdown, domestic and family violence, life changes and transitions, parenting, drug and alcohol use, financial hardship, unemployment and past or present trauma.
Jessica is passionate about working alongside clients from a strengths perspective to reach their goals by utilising her extensive knowledge, experience and skills. Jessica practices an integrated, client-centred approach, drawing on many contemporary models of therapy such as; Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Mindfulness-Based, Solution-Focused and Attachment-Based. She uses a trauma informed approach to help explore past experiences, feelings or behaviours that are contributing to and sustaining ongoing issues.
Jessica is known for her warmth and empathetic approach and is passionate about supporting clients to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. She respects that the client is the expert of their lives. Her positive and compassionate approach encourages her clients to feel comfortable, as she creates a safe environment for clients to explore their life challenges and navigate through difficult times. In Jessica’s spare time she enjoys spending time at the beach with her family and bike riding.
