Dr Michelle Chan

Dr Michelle Chan (BAppSci.Osteo, M.Osteo, GradCert.Paed, MPH) is an Australian registered Osteopath with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of Osteopathy Australia (OA). As a recipient of a scholarship funded by the Services for Australian Rural and Remote Health (SARRAH), Michelle completed a Master of Public Health with Distinction at the University of Newcastle in 2019.

Osteopathy (os-te-opath-ee) is a hands-on approach to healthcare recognising the important link between the structures of your body and the way it works as a whole. Osteopaths focus on how your skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves and circulation work together to improve your health & well-being. Osteopaths also consider the importance of a person’s lifestyle, including stress and poor posture, and the impact this may have on the body. Michelle has completed a Corporate Work Health course (2021) and may advise on ergonomics and assess home and office workstations that may impact poor posture.

Michelle has experience with acute and chronic conditions such as, but not limited to, musculoskeletal strains such as neck and back pain, headaches, work and sports related injuries. Michelle completed a graduate certificate in infant paediatric manual therapy (2013) and has a special interest in treating infants and children, and pregnancy care.

With over 18 years of clinical practice, Michelle is the principal osteopath and owner of Port Stephens Osteopathy, Salamander Bay (2006). The practice is located at “Wavelengths Allied Health” as part of a multidisciplinary clinic. Before establishing in Salamander Bay, Michelle practiced in Orange and Dubbo in private practice from 2004-2006.

Outside of clinical practice Michelle enjoys a busy family lifestyle with two kids, as well as beekeeping, fishing, gardening, and playing netball. But also wishes there was more time for painting, drawing, camping and travel!
